Japan Box Office: Detective Conan: Halloween’s Bride Remains No. 1 for 3 Straight Weeks

This 25th film has the potential to renew the history of the Detective Conan animated franchise. Detective Conan: Halloween’s Bride won 735 million yen (5.65 million USD) from 580,000 admissions in its third weekend from April 30 to May 1, remaining at the top spot for three consecutive weekends since its release.

the Susumu Mitsunaka (Haikyu!!) – the cumulative box office revenue of the film made reached 5.231 billion yen (40.25 million USD) from 3,732,000 admissions, to become the sixth highest-grossing film in the franchise by surpassing Sunflowers from Hell (4.48 billion yen / 2015). The rate at which this film has surpassed the five billion yen mark is the fastest in the franchise, and if the momentum continues, the possibility of it becoming the most successful film will increase further.

The 30th feature film in the Crayon Shin-chan anime franchise Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Mononoke Ninja Chinpuden also maintained the same second place in its second weekend by grossing 284 million yen (2.18 million USD) from 254,000 admissions. Its total domestic gross reached eight billion yen (US$6.25 million) from 730,000 admissions, becoming the sixth-highest-grossing Japanese film of 2022.

The live-action film adaptation from CLAMP’s dark fantasy manga xxxHOLiC was released in 335 theaters across Japan on April 29, 2022, then made a disappointing fifth place with an estimate of 100 million yen ($769,460). Its final box office gross is likely to be around 500 million yen (US$3.84 million).

The second part of Free! the last shot, the final two-part chapter of Free! anime franchise, fell three positions to seventh place in its second weekend. Meanwhile, Doraemon: Nobita’s Little Star Wars 2021the 41st feature film in the anime franchise Doraemon, remained in the same eighth place in its ninth weekend, bringing its total to 2.5 billion yen (19.23 million USD) from 2.14 million admissions .

The first part of RE:PENGUINDRUM cyclethe two-part compilation film of Kunihiko Ikuhara’s 2011 television anime film Mawaru Penguindrum, was released in 42 theaters on April 29 and failed to break into the top 10 in its opening weekend. The second part is already scheduled to open on July 22.
